Town of w. Siberia, on the Irtish, at the mouth of the Om, 1,624 m. from Moscow; junction of the highways to Omsk. Ru ia, Orenburg, E. Siberia and Turkis tan. It is built of wood on a sandy plain, and is the seat of administration of the Siberian-Co acks; founded 1716. Pop., 1890, 38,000.
