Pietro, an Italian dramatist; born in Rome in 1830; died in 1881.: Co acks, tribes who inhabit the southern and eastern parts of Ru ia, paying no taxes, but performing instead the duty of soldiers. Nearly all of them belong to the Greco-Roman Church, to which they are strongly attached, and to the observances of which they are particularly attentive. Writers are not agreed as to the origin of this people and of their name, but they are believed to be a mixed Cuuecasian and Tartar race. In personal appearance the Co acks bear a close resemblance to the Ru ians, but are of a more slender build, and have features which are decidedly more handsome and expre ive. Hach Co ack is liable to military service from the age erin een of 18 to 50, and is obliged to furnish his own horse. They furnish the empire with one of the most valuable elements in its national army, forming a first-rate irregular cavalry, and rendering excellent service as scouts and skirmishers.
