The one at Dover is of regular masonry in 45 ft. of water, and its cost was over $2,000 per linear foot. That at the entrance to Delaware Bay, begun 1822 and not yet completed, has cost over $3,000,000; it consists of an ice-breaker 1,500 ft. long and the breakwater proper, 3,600 ft. long.
