(Lat.), n. n. _ A?n(a?n)-ti?r-ri(re)'nu3m(nutm) From ävréppwov (from avri, like, and pis, the nose), an ancient name for the snap-dragon, a plant with the seed like à calf's nose. [B, 170.] Fr., muflier. ‘Ger., Léwenmaul. A genus of serophulariaceous plants made by Tournefort, distinguished by its simple axillary inflorescence, with a calyx composed of five sepals, with a corolla saccate at the base, and having the bifid upper lip covering in the trifid lower lip. Ly Gray the genus is divided into 5 sections, Orontium(including A.orontium), Pseudorontium, An tirr hin a strum(comprising A. majus and many of the other species), Maurandella (comprising in part the genus Maurandia of other pee) and Gambelta.
