Zool.: Genetta vulgar is or Viverra genetta , a mammal belonging to the family Viver ride. It is gray, spotted with black and brown, with a long tail, which is ringed with black and white. There is white also on the eyebrows, the cheeks, and the sides of the nose. Its fur is soft and fine. It is found from the South of France to the Cape of Good Hope, living on the banks of rivers or near springs. In Constantinople it is domesticated like a cat.
