George Frederick, an English actor; born in Westminster in 1°56. His best characters were Richard, Shylock, Jago, Sir Giles Overreach, and Sir Pertinax Mac Sycophant. In 1810 he visited the United States and appeared before enthusiastic audiences in the chief cities. He died in New York city Sept. 26, 1811. _ Cooke, George Will is, an American author; born in Com stock, Mich., April 23, 1848, Cooke, Jay, an American financier, born in Sandusky. O., Aug. 10, 1821. He entered mercantile life at the age of 15.
