Sweating - sickness

(swěting.) (Med.) An extremely fatal epidemic al disorder, which ravaged Europe, and especially England, in the 15th and 16th centuries. It appears to be allied to the worst form of cholera, and to bear a close relation to malignant congestive fever. [s. 870]
