(Lat. arc a), in Old Testament the bulrush basket in which the child Moses was found; Noah’s ark (300 cubits long, 50 broad, 30 high); also ‘Ark of the Covenant,’ the sacred chest (containing the tables of stone, etc.) carried by the Israeli tes into Palestine.
