[Lat., body of Christ.] ( Eccl.) The most splendid festival of the Roman Catholic Church, instituted by Pope Urban IV. in 1264, in honor of the consecrated host, and with a view to its adoration. It is observed on the Thursday of the week after Pentecost. It is called in France the Fite Dieu. Corpus Christ i, in Texas , a city, cap. of Nueces co., about 230 m. S. W. of Galveston. Pop .
