a genus of Ranunculaces, includes sev. well-known and beautiful fiowers which po e the property of extreme acridity. A. Pulsatilla, the Pasque flower, and A. Pratensis are powerful emetics; the leaves of the former will raise blisters on the skin. A. nemorosa is the wood-anemone or ‘wind-star,, A. Hepatica, the hepatica, and A. coronaria the common garden anemone.
