Corporation

(kõr-po-rā'shün.) [Fr., from L. corpus, & body.] A body politic or corporate, so called because the persons or members are joined into one body established by law, usually for some specific purpose, and continued by a succe ion of members. C. are either sole or aggregate. Sole C. consist of a single person at any one time. C. aggregate consist of two or more members at the same time. The chief incident of a C. is the power of taking land by succe ion. C. are established by legislative act of any State, or of the Congre of the U. States. [s. 231]
