65. Comenius (ko-mē'ni-us) (originally Komensky), Johann Amos. Born at Nivnitz or, more probably, at Ungarisch-Brod, Moravia, March 28, 1592: died in Holland, Nov. 15, 1670. A noted Czechic theologian and educational reformer. He studied theology at Herborn and Heidelberg, and in 1618 became pastor of a congregation of Moravian Brethren at Fulnek.
