(kau'te-re.) [FromGr. kauterios, corrosive.] (Med.) A medicinal application for burning, eating away, or corroding any morbid solid part of the body; -there are two kinds of C., the actual and the potential. The art of applying a C. is termed cauterization. [s. 155]
