mar, n. The female of the horse, or nest. equine A genus fancied of discovery quadrupeds. of something — Mare's absurdly ridiculous, or of some evil, scandal, or cause of anxiety, which proves to be basele ; a hoax. —Mare's-tail. A long or streaky cloud, spreading like a horse's tail, and indicating rain. {£ot.) An aquatic plant, having silicious, jointed stems; horse-tail.
