mineral occurring dantly in the Permian system; composition is: calcium and magnesium carbonate (CaMg(CO;):); belongs the same group of rhombohedral carbonates as calcite, and occurs large rock ma es in rhombohedral crystals, transparent and translucent; usually white or yellowish, but at Joseph aahiad green, grey, or ack.
