Compromise

(kom'pro-mīz.) [From L. comp rom it to, to promise. ] (Law.) A mutual undertaking on the part of persons in dispute or controversy to re ter their differences to the arbitration of a third party, or others. Hence, adjustment of such differences by mutual agreement. [s. 213]
