Is manufactured from metals of various kind by the gradual reduction through either rolling or drawing it into continuous lines of equal diameter throughout its whole length, and of any required size from to ’/< °f an inch. It is now in general use for the standing rigging of ships, and/or hawsers, warps etc; see page 194.
