[Gr. fem. of Lydos a Lydian.] Entom.: A genus of hymenopterous insects, family Tenth red in ide. The species are many. Lyda pra tens is and L. campestris feed on pine-trees, which they injure, and L. betulæ on the beech. lymph ly-er-măn, s. [English ly (e); -er and man.] A name given to the Cicada in some localities. *lyf, s. [LIFE.]
