The name of frog hopper refers partly to the form of their body, partly to their leaping powers, which are great; this power arises from the length of their B. 61. hind legs. The larva of these insects, which resembles the parent in most respects except in the want of wings, envelops itself in a froth resembling human spittle. All must have often observed this on plants. (3 FROG HOPPEBS. Frohlich, Abraham Emanuel, a Swi fabulist; born in 1796. He wrote three epics on the reformers Zwingli, Ulrich von Hutten, and Calvin; a volume of ‘* Rhymed Proverbs,”” and “Selected Psalms and Spiritual Songs.” He died in 1865.
