The interior of cannon may be divided into three distinct parts: 1st, the vent , or channel which communicates fire to the charge; 2d, the seat of the charge , or chamber, if its diameter be different from the rest of the bore; 3d, the cylinder , or that portion of the bore pa ed over by the projectile.
