In fortification, a field work consisting of two faces, forming a salient angle, and two parallel flanks; an iron shoe at the end of the stock of a gun-carriage; an iron ring at the end of the trail of a field-piece; a hole through an iron plate on the under side of the stock of a siege-piece.
