He was one of the Old-Testament Revision Company from its formation. (Princeton, 1877), Presbyterian; b. at Harris burg, Penn., Oct. 10, 1842; graduated at the College of New Jersey, 1861 studied at Princeton and Union Theological Seminaries, 1861-65; became pastor of Presbyterian Church, Irvington, N.Y., 1865; of Congregational Central Church, Boston, 1869; of Tenth Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia, 1876; profe or of church history in Lane Theological Seminary (Presbyterian), Cincinnati, O., 1882. He is the author of Sermons on the Christian Life, New York, 1885.
