calappid (kalapid)

Same as calappian. Calappidæ (ka-lap'i-dē), n. pl. [NL., calcar IMG:content-2920.png:[graphic] work. It is often represented on monuments, especially as a symbol of maidenhood.- 2. [ cap.] [NL.] A genus of adephagous beetles, of the family Carabid a, having obliquely sinuate elytra and serrate claws. C. impunctata is an example.
