FITZGERALD

(fits-jor’ald), Edward, poet and translator, born 460 FITZGERALD 1809, died 1883. He studied at Trinity College, Cambridge, and was a friend of Tennyson, Thackeray, and Cariyle. He spent a retired life in Suffolk, oceupied with books and boating. His chief work is a translation of The Rubdiydi of Omar Khayydm, the Persian poet (1859). His Letters and Literary Remains were published in three volumes in 1889 by his friend and literary executor, W. Aldis Wright. IMG:fig461_1.jpg:
