(etymology unknown), i. An animal of the family Ranidce, order Bairachia 2. The elastic homy substance in the middle of the sole of the horse's hoof; it is V-shaped, the two branches extending toward the heel. f. in the throat, collection of mucus in the larynx causing hoarsene and an inclination to hawk, salt f., a living frog whose blood has been drained away and replaced by a salt solution.
