NH2OH.NH,. Phenylene diamine. Known in three forms, ortho-, meta-, and para-diamidobenzenes; prepared by reduction from the corresponding dinitrobenzenes or nitranilines; white solids, oxidizing with great ease; strong bases, forming crystalline salts with the mineral acids. Meta phenylene diamine is used as a test for nitrous acid or IMG:content-1143.png:[graphic] nitrites.
