[Gr. ἀτελής ( atelēs ) = without end, imperfect: à, priv., and τέλος ( telos ) = end, completion.] A genus of Cebidæ, or American monkeys. They have a facial angle of 60°; the thumbs of the fore-hand concealed under the skin, and the prehensile part of the tail naked underneath. There are several species. They are generally called Spider Monkeys. They inhabit Brazil and the neighbouring regions.
