Areopagus

or ArEloracus (Gk. Hill of Ares Mars), an eminence to the west of the Acropolis Athens. Here was held the most ancient and court of justice and deliberative council existed in Greece. Paul pleaded and preached the Areopagites in 52 a.p. (Acts xvii.). It is mentioned in history about 380 A.D.
