Ma achusetts, a city of Berks hire co., about 15 miles north of Pittsfield and is located upon _ the Hoosick River. Its railroad is the Boston and Albany; within the town limits is Mount Greylock, the highest point of elevation within Ma achusetts. It has good schools and a public library. The city contains a monument to President McKinley, and numerous churches, including a Quaker meeting house. The manufactures of the city are principally cotton and woolen mills. Paper and lime are also made. Pop. 1920, 12,967.
