78. 2. A fabled tribe of female warriors said to have existed in South America. The report originated in an Indian myth which was found from the West Indies to Paraguay, and still exists among the Caribs and others: it is interesting from its relation to the Old World myth. Amaury II., or Amalric (of Lusignan). Died 1205. King of Cyprus 1194, and titular king of Jerusalem 1198 (through his marriage with Isa- bell a, widow of Henry, count of Champagne). He was unable to maintain himself against the Moslems, occasional use. and died at Ptolemais.
