[Ital.] [PANTALOON.] Music: An instrument invented by Hebenstreit in 1705. It was a sort of dulcimer, but strung with catgut and metal strings in two series. It was more than nine feet long, and nearly four feet wide, and had 186 strings, which were played with two small sticks.
