[F. rip iéniste; as ripieno + -ist.] In music, one who plays a ripieno part; a supplementary or a isting instrumentalist. ripieno (ri-pyānō), a. and n. [It., II. n. Pl. ripieni (-nē). Such an instrument or performer. In an orchestra, all the first violins, except the leader or concert-master, are ripieni. Opposed to principal or solo .
