Henry (son of James Little ton). b. London 7 Jany. 1823; entered music publishing house of Alfred Novello 1841, manager 1846, sole manager 1856, a partner 1861, sole proprietor 1866; had a branch establishment in New York; created the development of English taste for choral music; published the Me iah in 12 monthly numbers at sixpence 1846 and other standard music at cheap prices; retired 1887 leaving largest music publishing busine in the world; gave daily concerts at the Albert hall and revived the oratorio concerts under Dr. Mackenzie at the St. James’ hall. d.
