(pi-re’thrum) [Gr. πύρεθρον). A genus of composite-flowered plants. Phe root of Anacy'clus pyre’thrum, or pellitory, is sedative and sialagogue, and is used in neuralgia, toothache, and headache. P. car’neum and. ro’- seum furnish Persian insect-powder.. parthe’- nium, or feverfew, is a bitter tonic, and is used like camomile. Dose, 4-1 fl.dr. (2-4 c.c.).
