SILK COTTON

a short silky fibre obtained from various tropical trees, particularly Bombax malabaricwm, the silk-cotton tree, the large fruits of which contain pea-like seeds enveloped in the fibre. It is made into a coarse loose cloth, but more commonly is used for stuffing mattre es and cushions.
