[Also written tanier; origin obscure.] The blue or nut eddoes, Xanthosoma sagittifolium ( Caladium sagittæ folium ), of the West Indies, cultivated in tropical countries for its farinaceous tuberous root, which resembles that of the eddoes or taro, to which it is allied.
