a village of West Virginia, in Jefferson co., of which it is the county seat. It is on the Baltimore and Ohio and the Norfolk and Western railroads, 10 miles southwest of Harpers Ferry. It is surrounded by an important agricultural region of which it is the center. Charles Town is famous as being the place of the capture, trial and execution of John Brown, whose execution took place here on December 2, 1859. W.), town, Nevis, W. Indies.
