Haying the color of black or brown mixed with white, g. matter. Nerve ti ue containing many neuron cell bodies, and therefore presenting a grayish hue. In the brain, the gray matter is disposed on the outer surface of the convolutions and in the basal ganglia and nuclei; in the spinal cord it is arranged in the interior in a form like the letter H on cro -section.
