[ the parts or organs by means of which the air-bladder of some fishes is connected with the ear, including the Weberian o icles and their connections. An air-bladder connected with the auditory organ by intervention of a Weberian apparatus, formed of parts of the anterior vertebræ, modified after precisely the same plan as in the other siluroids.
