(para-graf.) [From Gr. para, beside of, and graphe, a writing; on account of the mark employed in referring to it.] (Lit.) Any portion or section of a piece of literary composition which relates to a particular point, whether consisting of one sentence or many. P. are generally denoted by a break in the lines; when a large quantity of matter is intended to be compre ed into a small space, they may be sep a rated by a dash, thus -.
