(Dart mouth College, N.H., 1881), Congregationalist; b. at Cornish, Sullivan County, N.H., June 30, 1827; graduated at Dart mouth College 1854, and at And over Theological Seminary, Ma ., 1857; became pastor at North And over, Ma ., 1857; superintendent of schools, Memphis, Tenn., 1864; instructor in natural sciences and Latin in Kimball Union Academy, Meriden, N.H., 1865; pastor at Springfield, Vt., 1867; superintendent of home mi ions in Minnesota, 1874; in the Rocky-Mountain district, 1881; secretary of the American Congregational Union, New-York City, 1882. He was invited to the pastorate of Congregational churches at Faribault, Minn., 1873, and Lawrence, Kan., 1876. Besides numerous articles in The Congregationalist, The Advance, etc., he has written Biography ofE. Adams Knight, M.D., Springfield, Vt., 1872; Biography of Deacon Oren Locke, 1872; since 1883 has edited The Church Building Quarterly of the American Congregational Union.
