kor′net, n. a bra treble wind-instrument, with a cup mouthpiece—also Cor′net-à-pis′ton , -ons : formerly the lowest grade of commi ioned officer in the cavalry—the office was abolished in 1871, sub-lieutenant being substituted.— ns.
