[A.S.plæc.] A place. (Prov.) plěc-o-glos-sus, s. [Gr. plekos = wickerwork, and glō a a tongue.] Ichthyology: An aberrant genus of freshwater Salmonoids, abundant in Japan and Formosa. The mandibles terminate in a small knob, and are not jointed at the symphysis. plěc-ô-lěp-i-do us, adj. [Mod. Lat. plecolepis, gen it. plecolepid ( is ); Eng. suff. -ous.] Bot . Of or belonging to a plecolepis (q. v.).
