[L. vibra're, to vibrate.] genus of Spirillacece, the members of which are now usually referred to Spirillum; also a flexible bacillus ha-ving sinuous snake-like movements. V. chol'erse, cholera bacillus, comma bacillus. Spirillum* cholera asiatica.- V. giil'dha, a motile comma-shaped organism -with a long single polar flagellum, found in cases of para cholera occurring at Gindha, in Erythrea, and elsewhere. V. kegallen's is, a microorganism morphologically and culturally resenibling V. cholera, but not agglutinated by -£he' cholera serum. V. ma ah'- USB, Ma owah -vibrio, isolated from cases of a disease indistinguishable clinically from cholera, which differs from V. cholera, in having two terminal flagella at each end.
