Movement favoring a very rigorous discipline, beginning ab. 150 in Phrygia, in the form of a revelation to Montan us; promulgated as a more perfect disclosure of the Gospel. It exalted prophecy above the episcopate, and was finally rejected as a heresy. Its chief representative was Turtullian. Montargis.
