Cincture

[Fr. ceinture; Lat. cinctura, from cinga cinct us, to surround, to gird.] A belt, a girdle, or something worn round the body. "He binds the sacred cincture round his breast." - Pope. -An inclosure; anything which surrounds or incloses. "The court and prison being within the cincture of one wall." Bacon. ( Arch .) A ring, list, or fillet, at the top and bottom of a column, serving to divide the shaft from the capital and its base.
