SUNSTROKE

n. Su3n's trok. Lat., insolatio. Fr., coup de soleil. Ger.. Sonnenstich. A morbid state due to exposure to great solar heat. It is usually of sudden onset, though it may be preceded by dizzine or a sensation of fullne in the head. In mild attacks there are faintne . syncope, nausea, and vomiting, marked muscular weakne , rapid and feeble pulse, and pyrexia. In severe cases there are lo of consciousne , a tense and irregular pulse, quickened or stertorous respiration, hyperpyrexia, and death from interference with the medullary centres, [a, 34.] Cf.
