Gangway

The sides of the upper-deck, say from the main-mast to the mizen-mast; or from the former to the break of a poop, or raised-quarter - deck. The name is also given to an opening in a bulwark, or a topgallant bulwark, abaft the main-mast; allowing pa age for entering or leaving a ve el. See Plate 28 B. n.
