An interval or division of time; the time for the regular recurrence of a phenomenon. incubation p., the time between the implanting of a disease and its appearance. inter systolic p., the a trio carotid interval. See under inferval. monthly p., the time of menstruation. reaction p., the stage of rallying from shock after trauma. refractory p., a short period succceding the time at which a nerve or muscle enters into a condition of functional activity during which the nerve or muscle does not respond to a second stimulus.
