A stroke; a striking; a blow; as, "He, with a carele beat." Dryden. - A pulsation; a succe ion of strokes. "And oh! that quickening of the heart, that beat!" - Byron. Beat'ing, n Act of striking, giving, or laying on re- peated blows; chastisement by blows; correction.
